Core Beliefs

God

We believe in the existence of a just and loving God who is the source of all creation and who lives in the persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that we are made in his image, and that he desires that all men have a trusting relationship with him.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Christ is God who became human to save us from our sins. We believe that Jesus’ life shows us how to live, that His death redeems us from our sins, and that His resurrection guarantees our own resurrection to a new life.  We believe that Jesus is the only way to have a saving relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God who personally dwells in believers for the sake of transforming us into Jesus’ likeness.  We believe that the Spirit equips us to be like Christ, supplies us with spiritual gifts, and intercedes for us in our time of need.  We believe we are to be filled with the Spirit.

h

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is our inspired source for learning both about God and godly living.

h

Humanity

We believe that human sin is rebellion against God that separates us from Him. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort.

h

Grace

We believe that salvation is a gift of God, and that by grace we are saved through faith.

H

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the free gift of God that has been made available to all as a result of Jesus’ death on the cross. Salvation is available to all who put their trust in Christ as their Savior.

Baptism

We believe that water baptism by immersion serves as the symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of our lost selves to a new life in Christ.  We are devoted to teaching and encouraging believers to be immersed in Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  We believe that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord needs to be baptized into Christ Jesus as a public declaration of faith.

Discipleship

We believe that God has called all Christians to go into all the world and make other disciples.  We believe that we have something we must tell others:  God’s story and our story of redemption.

Communion

We believe the Bread and the Cup remind us of Christ’s complete love for us, His sacrifice on the cross. Each week we celebrate His victory over death and His imminent return when all will be resurrected and judged.

Prayer

We believe prayer is essential to our spiritual and physical strength, both as individuals and as the Church. We believe nothing is impossible with God and that he wants us to ask all things in faith and trust.

The Church

We believe that the Church as Christ’s body is designed to be a visible manifestation of God on this earth. We believe that the church consists of those who have been saved by the blood of Christ, and that the church is the bride of Christ, the body of Christ, the temple of the Spirit, the family of God, and the pillar and ground of the truth.  We are committed to an environment where there is unity of purpose, diversity of thought.

Holiness

We believe that God calls us to live holy lives, which reflect the purity, morality, and ethical standards of Jesus Christ.  We believe that we should avoid corrupting influences of disbelief, even though we celebrate our love for everyone, including unbelievers.

The Family

We believe the Church’s responsibility is to help families find spiritual victory in Christ.  We are committed to provide the love and support needed for all types of families, the fatherless and the widows.

The Second Coming

We believe that Jesus Christ will return and gather His people at the end of time, raising all humanity from the dead.  We believe that those who have put their faith in Christ will be raised to eternal life, but those who have refused to believe in Him will be raised to eternal death.  We believe in living prepared for Jesus’s second coming.

Love

We believe the words if Jesus: “By this all people will know you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).  We believe that love covers over a multitude of sin, and that the highest aim of all people us to love God and love one another as our loving Father has loved us.
